Introducing the Greeley Tribune’s top high school boys athletes of the 2024-25 school year ...Saudi Arabia

Sport by : (GreeleyTribune) -

During his stellar four-year high school career, recent Resurrection Christian High School graduate Jackson Fagerlin did plenty of running.

It seemed he was always running toward something, rather than away from it.

In particular, this past school year, Fagerlin was always running toward state championships.

He earned three individual gold medals — one in cross country and two in track — this past school year and also anchored a first-place relay team.

With that incredible senior campaign, Fagerlin was named the Greeley Tribune’s Boys High School Athlete of the Year.

But he certainly wasn’t the only local athlete that constantly found himself gravitating toward immense individual and team success.

Here are the Greeley Tribune’s picks for the area’s top boys athletes in each sport during the 2024-25 school year:

Fall

Cross country

Matthew Hayden, Frontier Academy, jr.

Hayden capped his junior season as a close second to Resurrection Christian senior Jackson Fagerlin during the 3A state meet Nov. 2 at the Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs.

Hayden finished the race in 16:07.1. He was just a stride behind Fagerlin (16:05.3) and was well ahead of Peak to Peak’s third-place senior Jack Cerullo (16:18.9).

He led Frontier Academy to a fourth-place team finish.

Hayden was named to the CHSAANow.com/MaxPreps 3A all-state first team.

Football

Tripp Thomas, Windsor, sr., RB/WR

The speedy Thomas was practically addicted to end zone paint during his senior season.

He finished the campaign with 1,065 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns on 131 carries. He averaged 8.1 yards per carry and scored on about every sixth carry.

He also caught 14 passes for 92 yards and another touchdown.

His penchant for scoring helped lead Windsor to a 10-2 record and a trip to the second round of the 3A playoffs.

Thomas was named to CHSAANow’s/MaxPreps’ 3A all-state first team.

Boys golf

Kellen Ball, Windsor, sr.

Out of his 12 tournaments, he recorded seven first-place finishes and was a runner-up three times.
