We look ahead to this last-16 game in Miami Gardens with our Flamengo vs Bayern Munich prediction and preview. Can the Brazilians defeat another European side at the 2025 Club World Cup?

Flamengo vs Bayern Munich Stats: The Key Insights

The Opta supercomputer sees Bayern Munich as strong favourites to advance to the quarter-finals, with the German side doing so in 76.6% of its simulations. Flamengo are on an 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions, conceding just five goals in that sequence. Harry Kane has scored 83 goals in 94 competitive appearances for Bayern Munich since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.

Sunday’s last-16 tie between Flamengo and Bayern Munich is one of the most eye-catching games of the first knockout round at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Flamengo sprung a surprise in Group D by topping the standings ahead of Premier League club Chelsea, defeating the English side 3-1 in their second match of the tournament despite going a goal behind in the first half. That win, alongside another over Espérance Sportive de Tunis and a 1-1 draw with LAFC, mean the Brazilian club come into this last-16 tie on an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions (W8 D3).

Across that unbeaten sequence, they have conceded just five goals. And in their three group matches at this tournament, they allowed their opponents just seven shots on target overall – the fewest of any side in Group D.

Bayern come into this match on the back of a 1-0 defeat in their final group game versus Benfica, although qualification for the last 16 was already assured.

That loss did end their 100% record at the FIFA Club World Cup (including previous formats), though, having won their first six matches in the competition. The good news for Bayern fans is that they rarely lose back-to-back fixtures and haven’t done so in all competitions under Vincent Kompany since he took charge in May 2024.

It’s also rare for Bayern Munich to fail to score in consecutive games. The Bundesliga champions have gone consecutive matches in all competitions without scoring just once in the last 10 years, against Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio in February 2024.

Michael Olise will be a key player in making sure they don’t go goalless once again in this match. Not only was he Bayern’s joint-top scorer (3 goals, with Jamal Musiala) and joint-top assister (2 assists, with Kingsley Coman) during the group stage, but he also led the team in duels won (17), shots (8) and shots on target (5).

Harry Kane will also be looking to add to his solitary strike at the tournament so far, after he scored the opener in the 2-1 win over Boca Juniors in their second game. The England captain has scored 83 goals in 94 competitive appearances for the club since signing from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, which is 18 more than any other player for a Bundesliga club across that timeframe.
