Antonio Brown was a serious problem in the NFL.
The former wide receiver was a sixth-round pick (No. 195) in the 2010 NFL Draft, but went on to surpass all expectations.
Brown had a highly tumultuous 12-year NFL careerGetty‘AB’ spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, making four straight All-Pro teams between 2014-17.
In 2013, his breakout year, Brown became the only receiver in NFL history to record five receptions and at least 50 yards in every single game of an NFL season.
He led the league in receptions and receiving yards in 2014, receptions in 2015, receiving yards in 2017, and receiving touchdowns in 2018, and made seven Pro Bowls during his career.
The 36-year-old also holds many Steelers franchise records, including most receiving yards (1,834), most receptions (134), and most touchdown catches in a single campaign (15).
After his relationship with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger broke down, Brown had short stints with the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots, but a series of well-documented off-field issues plagued his career.
That didn’t stop him from reuniting with Tom Brady on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers halfway through the 2020 season once an eight-game suspension was lifted.
The mercurial wide receiver went on to win Super Bowl LV with Brady’s Buccaneers after beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9.
However, the once celebrated wideout was released after the 2021 season following an infamous outburst where he stripped off his uniform and ran off the field mid-game against the New York Jets.
It was the final act of Brown’s tumultuous 12-year NFL career — a career that saw him earn a reported $81million.
Including his off-field earnings, Brown thinks he made close to $100m during his career, but according to the man himself much of that fortune has now gone.
Brown is a Steelers legend with numerous franchise recordsGetty He won his one and only Super Bowl alongside NFL GOAT BradyGetty However, Brown recently admitted he’s blown his entire NFL fortuneYouTube@OneNightwithSteiny“I spent all of it,” the 36-year-old said during an appearance on the One Night With Steiny podcast.
“I blew all my money. Yeah, I blew everything.”
However, Brown also claimed he had his ‘financial people’ take the money he made and put it away for his family.
“Whatever I made in football, I saved it for my family,” he claimed.
According to reports last year, Brown filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is commonly referred to as ‘reorganization’ bankruptcy where the debtor proposes a plan to pay creditors over time while maintaining their businesses.
According to records which were filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida, Brown owed nearly $3m to eight creditors, with his assets listed at $50,000 or less.
CTESPN Network, Brown’s media company, addressed the bankruptcy filing in a post on X at the time.
“NFL legend Antonio Brown has filed bankruptcy today(.) He will be a first ballot hall of famer in 2027. He will be releasing new music this summer,” the social media post said.
Brown has been involved in several legal situations over the past several years.
Per CBS, Brown had allegations of sexual and personal misconduct levied against him in 2019 that ultimately led to the Patriots releasing him after just one game.
He went on to serve an eight-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy as a result of those allegations.
USA Today points out that Brown was sued in 2018 for throwing furniture off a balcony.
Brown has been open about his financial struggles but claims bankruptcy was a strategic moveGetty The Washington Post reported that a warrant had been issued for Brown’s arrest, accusing him of attempted murder with a firearmGettyIn June 2025, David Ovalle of the Washington Post reported that a warrant had been issued for Brown’s arrest, accusing him of attempted murder with a firearm during an incident at a Miami boxing event in May.
The warrant requires him to post $10,000 bond and to remain under house arrest pending trial.
Brown later posted on social media that he is not in the United States in a complication to matters.
“I’m out the country ain’t no more Child Support tell your mama get a job,” the 36-year-old said.
According to the Miami Herald, police don’t consider Brown to be on the run.
Brown has been candid about his financial turmoil in the past.
In an interview on The Pivot podcast, Brown addressed his financial woes, denying he’s broke and explaining his decision to file for bankruptcy as a strategic move to manage his debts better.
“I mean, I’m f***** up, you know what I’m saying?” Brown said.
“I just can’t comply with debt. You know, it’s all about protecting yourself. But yeah, you know … I’m not broke, but I’m fractured. … I’m just reallocating the debt to take care of the debtors. That’s all I’m doing.”
Brown also acknowledged that things got out of hand as far as his financials were concerned.
“You know, anybody can sue you, take you for whatever you got,” Brown added.
“You know, at this point, I don’t work, I don’t make millions of dollars where it’s coming in where I could just (pay off) some of that money. So, you know, Chapter 11 is about restructuring the money you’re making so you can take care of the debt.”

He competed on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars and took part on the first season of The Masked Singer.
