ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert for high heat and humidity ends Tuesday night, as the sun goes down and temperatures very slowly begin to drop. Until then, take it easy, limit strenuous activity outdoors, and make sure you keep water handy. Listen to your body! If you need to take a break, do it. Tuesday’s high in the 90s makes it three in a row, and officially a heat wave. Last year, we had 8 days at or above 90 degrees all season. It’ll remain warm and muggy Tuesday night, with temperatures likely not dropping out of the 70s, but a cold front approaching will push the 90s to our south, and dew points will drop through the 60s. So it’ll be a seasonably warm day in the 80s, but with much more comfortable humidity levels. Wednesday will also feature a mix of clouds and sunshine, with mainly dry weather.
We’ll see a better chance of showers associated with our cold front on Thursday, possibly a rumble of thunder. It’ll be another fairly comfortable day with highs in the 70s. Friday will see an increase in humidity once again, with dew points climbing back into the 70s with a better chance for some storms. We’ll remain warm and muggy to start the weekend with a few showers or storms, but the 2nd half of the weekend looks nice, with a partly cloudy sky on Sunday.
