Jobe Bellingham is officially up and running at Borussia Dortmund.
The teenager made the most of his first start for the German giants as he scored on the stroke of half-time against Mamelodi Sundowns in their Club World Cup clash.
Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams pushed away a cross from the right flank, but it only went as far as Bellingham, who was just inside the edge of the box.
The Englishman chested the ball and let it bounce before he fired home past Williams, who was rooted to the spot.
Bellingham’s goal put Dortmund 3-1 ahead after Felix Nmecha and Serhou Guirassy cancelled out Lucas Ribeiro Costa’s 11th-minute opener for the South African side.
Although Bellingham will be delighted to have bagged his first goal for the club, it wasn’t enough to surpass his brother, Jude.
The elder Bellingham joined Dortmund in July 2020 at the age of 17 and also scored in his first start for the club, which was a DFB-Pokal clash against third-tier outfit MSV Duisburg.
But he managed to get on the scoresheet in the 30th minute – 15 minutes ahead of Jobe.
Jude’s goal also made him the club’s youngest-ever scorer at the time as he was just 17 years and 77 days old.
However, the record was later beaten by Youssoufa Moukoko in December 2020 when he was just 16 years and 28 days.
Moukoko’s goal also set a new Bundesliga record for the youngest-ever goalscorer.
Bellingham’s full starting debut came four days after he made his first appearance for Dortmund.

Bellingham was snatched up by Dortmund from Sunderland for an initial £27.8million plus £4.2m in potential add-ons earlier in June.
The fee ensured Bellingham became the Black Cats’ record sale, as it eclipsed the initial £25m Everton forked out to sign Jordan Pickford from Sunderland in June 2017.
Like his brother, the 19-year-old came through the Birmingham City academy before he joined Sunderland in June 2023.
He went on to register 11 goals and four assists from 90 appearances for the club.
Bellingham’s final contribution was returning Sunderland back to the Premier League as they recorded a thrilling 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the play-off final.
Bellingham signed off on his Sunderland career in styleGettyThe teenager may get the chance to win a second piece of silverware in the space of two months should Dortmund enjoy a deep run at the Club World Cup.
Dortmund will round out the group stage with a clash against Korean side Ulsan on June 25.
Should Dortmund top Group F, they will take on the runners-up of Group E in the round of 16, which could be River Plate, Monterrey, Inter Milan or Urawa Red Diamonds.
