Tyson Fury’s cousin Hughie Fury withdraws from upcoming clash days before fight ...Middle East

British heavyweight Hughie Fury has withdrawn from his upcoming clash with Belgium’s Michael Pirotton, talkSPORT.com understands.

Fury was due to box Pirotton on June 28 at the Connexin Live Arena in Hull on a GBM show.

The big men were set to act as chief support for a bill topped by a European light heavyweight title fight between Shakan Pitters and Brad Rea.

However, a well-placed source informs talkSPORT.com that Tyson Fury‘s cousin has pulled out of the bout with a damaged hand.

The injury acts as a significant setback for Fury, who was sidelined between 2021 to 2024 by health issues.

Two fights with Michael Hunter fell by the wayside due to the lingering effects of long COVID, while other issues with allergies delayed a possible comeback further.

Speaking to talkSPORT.com earlier this year, Fury reflected on the difficulties surrounding his prolonged absence from the ring.

He said: “It’s been a very frustrating time for me being out of the ring and not being able to fight.

“It’s not like I have been out of the ring doing nothing and partying, it has been three years of trying to get back in there to fight.

“There were all sorts that kept me out, there were allergies, COVID, there was a number of things.

“I found out I was celiac (autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten), so all of that foot was causing me problems.

“Everytime I tried to get back into training something new knocked me back.

“I took me right back until I got back in the ring for me to get over it all.”

Fury would eventually return to action for the first time in 30 months last April to beat Ukrainian journeyman Kostiantyn Dovbyschenko on points.

Keen to keep the momentum going, Fury stepped back between the ropes one month later to stop Patrick Korte inside two rounds before closing out the year in September with a decision win over Christian Thun.

The 30-year-old then kicked off 2025 with a fifth TKO triumph over Dan Garber and was due to make his second apperance of the year against Pirotton.

Pirotton (10-1) recently fell to the first defeat of his professional career against unbeaten Polish puncher Piotr Lacz in the WBC Grand Priz in April.

On paper, it served as a decent step up from Fury’s last opponent Garber, who sports a 9-6 record.

It remains unclear at this point whether Fury vs Pirotton will be rescheduled.

The Hull show is still set go ahead without Fury, while GBM work to secure a new date for the Mancunian.
