The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Juneteenth Festival is taking place Thursday, June 19, from 4-8 p.m. at Carrboro Town Commons. This year’s community gathering will feature live performances, history exhibits, art vendors, nonprofits, local food, dancing, and a Kids Zone – all in honor of Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. (June 19, 1865, was the day that federal officials began enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas.)
