WHAT: Township trustees meeting June 10
PRESENT: Bob McBride, Mike Hovis and Mike Morelli
Trustees:
• Approved placing two renewal levies on the November ballot. Hovis said one levy is a 0.8-mill five-year renewal for fire purposes that was originally passed in 1996 and the second is a 1.8-mill five-year renewal for police purposes that was originally passed in 2001.
• Reported that the county auditor’s failure to deposit tax money has resulted in the township incurring $11,371 in legal fees as of June and numerous administrative hours looking into and responding to public record requests and other inquiries.
• Announced the annual Safety Day will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.
• Were informed the fire department took part in swift water rescue training.
• Heard from fire officials a recent structure fire had no smoke detectors inside the home. The fire department has smoke detectors available with assistance from the American Red Cross.
• Announced a road closure on Timber Creek Drive from 2860 to 2830 for a private party on Saturday.
• Reported the zoning department has been addressing high grass issues and other complaints.
• Heard from Hovis the updated comprehensive plan is being reviewed and will be approved by trustees in July.
• Informed the public trustees will take part in the opening ceremony of the 179th Trumbull County Fair on July 8. The fair runs July 8 to 13.
• Announced the township has a senior watch program where police and fire staff check on residents. Seniors who want to take part can call the police department at 330-638-5503.
• Announced applications for park shelter rentals are available by calling 330-637-8816.
