ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Zy’Jae St. Pierre’s family continued their search for the missing 5-year-old who fell into the Genesee River on Sunday, June 1st.
News10NBC’s Marsha Augustin joined the family on a boat Saturday as they searched for any sign of him. “My mind, my eyes and everything is in this river,” said Latoraya Bryan, Zy’Jae’s grandmother.
Bryan, along with Zy’Jae’s father Zier St. Pierre and other loved ones, spent Saturday searching the river. They used binoculars and drones to aid their efforts.
“I think that’s where they need to look is the sides,” Bryan said.
The emotional toll on the family is evident, but their faith remains strong.
“I’m a little frustrated. But like I said I thank the scuba team, I thank the community, I thank everyone that is coming to help us. But it’s frustrating that we haven’t found him yet,” Bryan said.
Prayer has been a source of strength for Bryan as she navigates this difficult time. “I don’t want to cry. I’m trying to be strong,” Bryan said.
Zy’Jae’s father expressed his gratitude for the community’s support, which has been invaluable to the family.
“I don’t know how to say thank you,” St. Pierre said.
The family remains determined to find Zy’Jae and continues their search along the Genesee River. Zy’Jae St. Pierre fell into the Genesee river along the Andrews Street Bridge. He was walking with his mom, who was pushing his younger sibling in a stroller when he ran ahead and climbed the railing. His mom tried to stop and save him but he fell into the river.
Police and emergency crews have been leading search efforts to find the missing boy.
