More than 100 firefighters from various area agencies knocked down a smoky blaze at a commercial building in Costa Mesa on Sunday evening, June 15.
Crews responded around 5:15 p.m. to a facility at 3595 Cadillac Avenue, south of MacArthur Boulevard, which houses Designer’s Moving Service, Inc., SoCal Weightlifting and Primecom Technologies, an electronics manufacturer.
Firefighters found four moving vans and multiple pallets that caught fire outside the facility and flames that spread into the building, said Jason Pyle, assistant chief with Costa Mesa Fire Department.
Crews contained the fire within two hours.
Officials don’t believe anyone was inside the facility at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.
There was damage to the building, Pyle said, including the center of the roof that either collapsed or was burned through and a back portion of the structure that was compromised.
Cadillac Avenue will remain closed overnight as crews continue to quell any flare ups, clean the area and begin their investigation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
