On Friday evening and into Saturday morning, a series of explosions were heard in the skies over the provinces of As-Suwayda, Daraa, Quneitra, and the rural areas of Damascus in southern Syria, due to the interception of missiles that are believed to be Iranian in the airspace.
Residents of As-Suwayda province heard the violent explosions, while local sources reported that at least one missile fell in the western countryside, according to the news network “al-Raased,” which focuses on news from As-Suwayda province.
There were also sightings of exchanged missiles between Israel and Iran in the skies over southern Syrian areas.
In the vicinity of the town of Zakiyah in the western Damascus countryside, a missile fell, leaving a large crater but with no human injuries reported.
A fire broke out in agricultural lands in the Quneitra countryside, following the fall of one of the missiles that Israel uses to intercept Iranian drones, resulting in minor damage to some agricultural crops.
Additionally, remnants of missiles fell yesterday, Friday, June 13, due to the mutual shelling between Israel and Iran in the Daraa countryside during their passage through Syrian airspace.
The remnants of the shelling that fell in Daraa may be from an empty fuel tank of an Israeli warplane or from an Iranian missile, causing no material or human damage.
Amid the military escalation between Israel and Iran, Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster, Raed al-Saleh, warned people to stay away from any foreign objects or debris that fall as a result of the events, urging citizens not to gather or climb on roofs to observe the passage of missiles, according to the official Syrian news agency (SANA).
Al-Saleh emphasized the importance of communicating with emergency teams in the Syria Civil Defence when any fires break out or human and material damages occur, advising not to touch any foreign objects and to leave the handling to engineering teams or teams for clearing war remnants.
