We spoke with celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec about nail trends and nail health to get the lowdown, so that you can enjoy your beautiful manicures without worry.
Kandalec, who has worked with Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain and Connie Britton says you should never, ever "peel your polish, gel, acrylic or press-ons off, or remove them with a tool before giving them enough time to properly soak," Kandalec tells Parade. The absolute minimum is 15 minutes.

Can you use mechanical nail drills on natural nails?

"If the bit the nail tech is using is extremely gentle, it will give them a stunning result."
