Patrick Schwarzenegger has checked out of The White Lotus and is heading to the big screen. The actor landed a role in the upcoming movie Love of Your Life, and he’ll be starring alongside a show-stopping actress.
On Tuesday, June 10, Deadline reported that Patrick, 31, signed on for the Amazon MGM Studios film opposite Margaret Qualley. Rachel Morrison is set to direct, while Julia Cox penned the script. Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson will be producing the project under Open Invite Entertainment. On Wednesday, June 11, the outlet reported that Aaron Pierre also joined the cast.
While many details have been kept under wraps, the film “follows a young woman, to be played by Qualley, who loses her husband and goes on a journey to find a way forward in her life,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
Patrick “will play an old friend and ex.” The outlet reported the movie will begin “shooting in August in European locales.”

The news comes hot on the heels of Patrick’s breakout run on season 3 of The White Lotus with his portrayal of Saxon Ratliff. Fans of the series were equally captivated and grossed out by the character, as Mike White’s series crossed incestuous boundaries within its eight episodes.
As Patrick continues to add acting credits to his resume, his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has shown support for his son’s work. The father-son duo appeared on Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, where they discussed Patrick’s White Lotus role and the fact that he stripped down naked on the show, something his father has done for roles in the past.
“I couldn’t believe [it]. I said to myself, ‘I’m watching your show, and I’m watching your butt sticking out there.’ And all of a sudden, I see the weenie. What is going on here? This is crazy,” Arnold, 77, remembered in the June 3 video. “Then I said to myself, ‘Well, Arnold, hello. You did the same thing in Conan [the Barbarian] and Terminator, so don’t complain about it.’ But it was a shock to me that you were following my footsteps so closely.”

I guess the similarity from Terminator to White Lotus was that you were working on a project with James Cameron, who is one of the greatest directors of all time,” Patrick replied. “For me, it was a blessing to work with the writer, the director, the creator of White Lotus — because Mike does everything. Same with James Cameron, right?”
Arnold went on to say that he has “always been a fanatic about working with great directors.”
“Michael White — he’s a fantastic director and a writer, just like Jim Cameron,” he said. “They have a very clear vision.”

In a subsequent interview with Extra on Wednesday, June 11, Arnold said he hasn’t given his son too much acting advice.
“He never asked me for advice … Everyone has a different way of going about the acting career … I had mine and he has his, and that was what made the Variety [talk an] interesting kind of a discussion between me and my son, is because it was really about me talking about, ‘This is the way it was 50 years ago when I started, and this is the way it is for you now,’ and what are the differences and approaches, and all that,” Arnold said.
