Squid Game's third and final season is set to come to our screens in just one month – and now we have the official trailer for the upcoming instalment.
After emerging as the sole winner in season 1, Gi-hun aka Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae) re-entered the games in season 2 with the aim of destroying them from the inside.
But now new footage released as part of Netflix's TUDUM Live event has given fans a first look at Gi-hun's arc in season 3, revealing that he is indeed released back into the player dorm in the upcoming instalment - and tasked with competing in a new round of deadly games.
Speaking to Radio Times Magazine, Squid Game lead Lee recently said of season 3: "When I read the script, there were so many twists and turns, it was full of surprises for me. I was, like, ‘Whaaat? Is this happening?’."

Squid Game season 3 release date speculation: When is it coming out?
The announcement came during the streamer's Next on Netflix publicity event and followed weeks of rampant speculation, which flared up when a video uploaded to Netflix Korea's YouTube channel reportedly named the very same date (via Forbes).
It puts almost exactly six months between the second and third seasons, which is a reasonable wait indeed, made possible by the two entries being shot back-to-back.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at Netflix’s Tudum event, he said: "We are going to be releasing quite soon and I am very nervous. I know that a lot of you out there are curious about what’s going to happen in season three, but all of us are more curious about how much you’re going to enjoy it. So, I can’t wait, I’m very nervous."
He added: “Or maybe just another season of Squid Game?

Alas, a few fan favourites were eliminated in the preceding seven episodes, meaning we probably won't be seeing any more from Lee Seo-hwan as Jung-bae, Lee Jin-wook as Park Gyeong-seok, Choi Seung-hyun as chaotic rapper Thanos or Won Ji-an as Se-mi.

"A failed rebellion, the death of a friend, and a secret betrayal," the official synopsis teases. "But the Squid Game stops for no one, so Gi-hun will be forced to make some important choices in the face of overwhelming despair as he and the surviving players are thrust into deadlier games that test everyone’s resolve."
Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously explained how season 2 and 3 relate to one another in an interview with RadioTimes.com.
"And I think with season 2, you will be in the middle of that progress, that intriguing journey of following Gi-hun and thinking to yourself: 'Will he be able to put an end to this game? Will he succeed, and how will he?'"
It has since become clear that the "important event" referenced by Hwang in the above quote is the execution of his best friend Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) in front of his very eyes.
Asked whether he sees the story continuing, he added: "Personally, I see the third season as being the finale to this story. That’s because I believe I’ve had closure to the story I wanted to tell about society through the character of Seong Gi-hun.
Plenty of ideas have been posited for what might happen in the next season of Squid Game, with outgoing star Lee Seo-hwan telling us his own dark theory in a recent interview.
She teased: "It seems like a lot of people have been predicting the contents of season 3, but it seems like not many of them have gotten it right, as I thought. A truly unimaginably brutal and cruel story awaits, so please look forward to it."
Staying cryptic, she simply stated: "There is a possibility. You can never rule out any possibilities!"
