A RARE classic car with only 22,000 miles on the clock is up for sale – and it looks just like new.
A pristine 1971 Chevrolet El Camino – known by enthusiasts as a sort hybrid vehicle that combines the features of a car and a pickup truck – is currently listed for sale on eBay and will likely fetch a mighty price.

Seemingly well-preserved and hardly used over the years, the El Camino has many components, such as the interior, vinyl top, shocks, suspension, spark plug wires, hoses, belts and clamps, which are factory-original – meaning they haven’t been replaced or altered.
What’s more, the pick-up’s bed has retained its original paint thanks to being carefully protected by a tonneau cover since day one – helping to prevent wear and damage.
It’s also been stored appropriately, helping to keep it in great shape without the need for restoration.
The El Camino model was marketed by Chevy as both a “tough car” and a “luxurious pickup”, having first been first introduced in 1959 to take on the Ford Ranchero.
The idea for the vehicle is to combine utility without sacrificing style, and was wildly popular as muscle cars gained traction in the mid-1960s.
The 1971 model was Chevy’s third generation iteration and, according to Auto Evolution, was known for its aggressive styling and powerful engine options.
They added that the third-gen pickup featured a restyled grille and bumper, 13 new Magic-Mirror exterior colors and enhanced SS packages with sportier performance and styling.
The iconic El Camino nameplate continued through five generations – with the final model running from 1978 to 1987 – and today remains a symbol of American motoring.
The 22,000-mile model is available for collection from Acworth, Georgia, but the next owner will have to face some fierce competition.
According to Auto Evolution, its auction has mere days to run, with the current bid at: $26,100 – which means the reserve is not met.
Its Buy It Now price is at $52,500 – indicating the sort of windfall the current owner is hoping to get for it.
NOT FOR WANTING
This comes just days after we reported on another Chevy that’s up for sale – although this example is in a much worse state.
A 1968 Camaro in very poor condition is currently up for sale – having been taken apart in 1993 for a planned restoration that was never completed.
The US icon, which is one of the most famous nameplates in motoring, is often a hit with enthusiasts.
This model is certainly no different, with the eBay listing claiming it’s the highly sought-after Camaro RS/SS iteration – meaning it combines the Rally Sport (RS) and Super Sport (SS) packages – and was originally equipped with a 396ci Turbo-Jet V8 engine, the top engine option for that year.
And while the factory engine is missing, the seller is including a 1968 396ci engine with dual quads, which maintains the car’s performance pedigree.
They also claim that all parts needed for the car are available, except for the taillight bezel, which at least makes restoration possible.
Five steps for restoring a car
Restoring a car can be a massive undertaking. Here's a simpler way to think about the process as a whole:
Plan This includes setting a budget, preparing a work area, researching parts, and establishing a timeline to get the work done. Strip the vehicle This involves disassembling the vehicle and assessing the condition of the parts being removed. Bodywork This means stripping the paint and repairing any rust and dents, followed by repainting. Engine restoration This involves restoring a car’s power – including engine repairs. Rebuild After reassembling and detailing the car, all that’s left is to take it for a test drive.Source: WeatherTech
