ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Parts of the region are working to clean up after heavy rain on Monday led to flooded roads. News10NBC’s Tom Kowalski went across Monroe and Wayne counties to survey the damage.

A massive tree was blocking one lane heading east on I-490 near Pittsford. In the Town of Ontario, a tree was leaning against several electrical wires on Ridge Road. Honeoye Falls was flowing heavily, about four inches higher than just a few hours before the storm.

Earlier in the day, there was a flood under a railway bridge on North Union near the Public Market. Rickey Gause spoke about having his car stuck in the floodwaters.

“Three buses kind of came on the opposite side through it,” Gause said. “It kind of washed my engine out and my car just wouldn’t start again. So the rain continued. It got flooded. Water flooded over my inside the car, past my calves, and I couldn’t let the windows down or anything to hear the guys and I had to wait.”

Steuben County has issued a state of emergency for several towns, including Canisteo, Cameron, and Bath, due to excessive rainfall. Some roads are closed and people there are asked to only travel in case of an emergency. News10NBC will keep you updated on any further storm damage.
