June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and local officials are getting the word out about an important and under-discussed issue. And they’re taking action as well: local law enforcement agencies and service providers have joined forces to form a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate their efforts to help and support vulnerable adults in our community.
Aaron welcomes Orange County Superior Court Clerk Mark Kleinschmidt, Angela Riley of Orange County Social Services, and Alicia Stemper of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to discuss their efforts – and what you need to know to spot the signs of elder abuse (including self-neglect as well as phone scams) and how to access available resources if you do need to reach out for help.
