Serious crash shuts down I-485 outer loop in northeast Charlotte: NCDOT ...Middle East

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A serious crash has brought traffic to a complete standstill on I-485 Outer near Benfield Road Thursday morning, creating major delays.

The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. near Mile Marker 26, and as of now, all lanes on I-485 Outer are shut down. Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Medic 911 confirmed that multiple units have responded. “Yes, it is a very busy scene. We have multiple units. Please avoid the area,” a Medic spokesperson told Queen City News.

So far, the number of injuries remains unknown, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Officials estimate the road closure may last until at least 11:46 a.m.
