Amid the Piano Man's difficult health battle, a museum not too far from where he grew up has decided to honor him and his early bandmates

The 1960s-era rock-soul group included members Richard McKenna (guitar), Jon Small (drums), John Dizek (vocals, harmonica, tambourine), Howie Arthur Blauvelt (bass, organ) and of course, Joel (keyboards, vocals). According to the release, the band formed in 1964 and performed around Long Island until 1969. They produced two full-length albums.

The upcoming event is open to the public so long as they have a special event ticket, which can be purchased for $50 ahead of the commemorative gathering on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 8 p.m. at Stony Brook Village Museum.

According to the official announcement, Joel is not expected to appear at the event, but he will undoubtedly be there in spirit. Small and McKenna, the only other surviving members of the group, are expected to be in attendance to accept the induction.

That said, according to Joel's close friend and famed radio host Howard Stern, the "You May Be Right" singer is "doing fine."

"But he was delightful," Stern added in a recent update. "We had a great time with the wives."
