The Denver Broncos are in the trenches for Week 2 of OTAs and there are several players on offense who are flying under the radar as the team gets ready for training camp.

Denver Broncos offensive players flying under the radar at OTAs

The Denver Broncos starting offense and key role players are primarily set when you look at the overall core of this team, led by Bo Nix. Who are three offensive players who are flying under the radar with training camp approaching?

Blake Watson could be underrated name for Denver Broncos

While the Denver Broncos’ ongoing running back competition is heavily featuring Jaleel McLaughlin, RJ Harvey, and Audric Estime, Blake Watson is another name to watch.

Watson looks good coming into OTAs, looking leaner than last year but still just as springy. Last year, he had an injury that limited him in training camp, but he returned over time. He’s the type of player that could be an asset for Sean Payton’s offense as a rusher and receiver out of the backfield. One area that could help Watson’s roster chances is if he suddenly emerges as a kick return option next to Marvin Mims, replacing Tremon Smith, who had that role last season.

There will be plenty of touches to go around this summer, and Watson is a name that I encourage Broncos fans to keep an eye on.

Caleb Lohner impressing early on

Quite possibly the most exciting player to keep an eye on from a developmental standpoint is Caleb Lohner, the Broncos seventh-round tight end. We saw Lohner during Broncos’ rookie minicamp where he was targeted in the passing game during team periods.

During the first week of OTAs, we saw Lohner getting plenty of opportunities with Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, and Sam Ehlinger. He wasn’t targeted as much in the passing game, but the way that Sean Payton is using his size in the blocking game will be a fun development to watch, especially when the pads come on for training camp.

Alex Palczewski carrying over momentum from last year

Alex Palczewski is another name Broncos fans need to keep an eye on throughout the summer. After filling in for Mike McGlinchey for a stretch run last season, Palczewski looked good at right tackle in the action he saw. As Denver dealt with an injury to Ben Powers last season, Zach Strief also worked Palczewski in at guard, and he’s getting plenty of action in OTAs there and at offensive tackle.

He had the second-most starts in FBS history as an offensive lineman with 65 games under his belt, and that experience was noteworthy when he jumped to the NFL. Palczewski has a good foundation from a skillset standpoint, moves well laterally, and has good core strength to anchor down when he fully engages against defenders.

He seems like a roster lock, but will have plenty of competition as the Denver Broncos coaching staff looks to solidify their depth in the trenches. His multi-position versatility is one of the more valuable assets to his current roster status.
