Rasmus Hojlund could strengthen the Inter Milan attack this summer amid links of a Manchester United exit.
That’s the view of European football expert Kevin Hatchard, with the Dane potentially set to leave Old Trafford after two tough years.
It’s been a difficult two years for Hojlund at UnitedGettyUnited completed a £72million transfer with Atalanta for Hojlund in 2023 but have struggled to find his best form ever since.
The 22-year-old has scored just 26 goals in 95 appearances, with just four of those coming in the Premier League this season.
However, he could be offered a lifeline in the summer as Fabrizio Romano reports that Inter have held talks with the striker’s camp.
It’s a move that would see Hojlund return to Serie A, where he netted nine goals in 32 matches during his single season at Atalanta.
And speaking to talkSPORT, Hatchard believes it could work for both Inter and Hojlund, who can rediscover his confidence at the San Siro.
“He did have success in Italy with Atalanta,” he said on the Sports Bar.
“Inter have been credited with an interest in him for quite some time. He would certainly help them I think, in terms of the depth in that area.
“I would expect Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram to stay, I would expect them to be Inter players at the start of next season, but then you look at the depth.
“Mehdi Taremi is an experienced player, Marko Arnautovic is an experienced player, but are you going to win the top prizes with those guys in the squad long-term?
“I know Inter came close this season but it’s definitely an area they want to improve, and Hojlund I think can do that.
A move to Inter could offer Hojlund a chance to find his form againGetty Martinez already leads the line for the Italian giantsGetty“It’s really interesting because Ruben Amorim has been talking about picking him
“But his confidence does look shot, it looks as though he does need a move.”
Inter already boast Martinez and Thuram as attacking options, with the duo scoring a combined 40 goals this season.
However, Simone Inzaghi’s side endured a tough campaign as they missed out on four pieces of silverware.
They finished a point behind Serie A champions Napoli and were then thrashed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
Inter were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia at the semi-final stage and beaten by rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final.
Hojlund has not been able to hit the ground running at UnitedUnited could become interested in a sale as part of a much-needed rebuild that’s already got underway.
Matheus Cunha will join from Wolves in a £62.5m move subject to his visa and registration being completed.
The Brazilian, who can play up front or in attacking midfield, is set to take the no.10 shirt at Old Trafford.
United have also held talks with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, who is valued at £50m by the west London side.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer amid a lucrative contract offer from Al Hilal.
However, after consulting with his family, he has rejected their deal worth £700,000-per-week to stay at United.
