Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Ab de Villiers has revealed that Virat Kohli didn’t bother to heed to his advice. The former Proteas star and the ex-RCB captain share a very close friendship, calling each other ‘biscuit’ in an affectionate manner. Ahead of IPL 2025 final, ABD has spilt the beans on why Kohli never decided to throw the emotion out of the window in an IPL season.
When Kohli ignored ABD’s advice
Speaking at an event in Mumbai, de Villiers said that he had had multiple conversations with Virat on how he could relax and leave emotions out for an IPL season. He said that while Kohli had accepted it as a “not a bad idea”, he had said that it simply didn’t workout for him.
“We have had this conversation many times before. Why don’t you try for a season and just get the emotion out of it, just to sort of relax a bit, ok? And I’ve told him before, and he said, it’s not a bad idea, but it seems not to have worked out,” said De Villiers.
He further justified Kohli’s attitude, stating that while he did not listen to him, it was his natural thing. Dubbing it as one of Virat’s strengths, de Villiers explained that while he would like to see a calm and composed RCB star, he might have been wrong.
“He doesn’t listen to me. So the thing is, I think it’s a natural thing for him. He can’t help but show that he cares and that’s where it comes from. So, at the end of the day, it is one of his strengths,” he added.
Virat will be next in action in IPL 2025 final against PBKS on June 3 as RCB hunt for their maiden trophy.
