Chelsea will be among the favourites for glory at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
The Blues are one of just two Premier League representatives in the new-look competition, having won it under its old format in 2022.
Chelsea won the Club World Cup under England manager Thomas TuchelGettyThe Londoners became world champions for the first time after edging to a 2-1 extra-time win over Palmeiras.
Arsenal’s Kai Havertz was the matchwinner, having also scored the decisive goal in Chelsea’s Champions League final the season before.
As a result of that 2021 European Cup win, Enzo Maresca‘s team booked their spot in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
The Club World Cup’s $1billion prize purse now presents Chelsea with a huge chance to claim lucrative riches.
Chelsea at Club World Cup: Fixture dates
The Blues get their Group D campaign underway on Monday, June 16, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
That was the same venue where Chelsea secured a 3-0 win over Club America in their pre-season tour of the USA last August.
Four days later, Maresca’s side plays their second Club World Cup match on Friday, June 20.
It marks the club’s return to the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where they beat Brighton 4-3 in the summer of 2023.
Their final Group D match will come on Wednesday, June 25, at the same stadium, with the round of 16 beginning that weekend.
The knockout stages get underway on Saturday, June 28, and continue to run until the final takes place on Sunday, July 13.
Chelsea have spent recent summers playing in AmericaGettyWho could Chelsea face?
The Premier League giant’s first opponents at the Club World Cup, Club Leon, were expelled from the competition last month.
The Mexican side will not play in the 32-team event after a FIFA appeals committee determined they failed to meet tournament regulations on multi-club ownership.
Instead, Chelsea will take on MLS side Los Angeles FC, meaning a reunion with Olivier Giroud and ex-rival Hugo Lloris is on the cards.
Chelsea’s other group opponents are Flamengo of Brazil and Tunisian side Esperance.

Maresca has shared his concerns about player welfare ahead of the Club World CupGettyChelsea at Club World Cup: What has been said?
Maresca has hinted at potentially resting several key players during the summer tournament due to concerns over fatigue.
Five Chelsea stars have been called up by England manager Thomas Tuchel for international duty in early June.
Should the Londoners reach the Club World Cup final, then their 2024-25 season will not conclude until five weeks before the new Premier League campaign gets underway.
“The problem is that we have a game Sunday and Wednesday, a European final,” said Maresca.
“No-one cares about that. No one cares about player welfare. If they’re going to be tired (in the US), they’re not going to play. How can you manage that? It’s simply like that.
“I don’t think there’s any attention paid to (if) players are healthy or these kind of things. It’s not normal the amount of games they play.”
“For me it’s not normal and it’s not correct,” Maresca added.
“I can understand that people are thinking ‘they earn (a lot of) money,’ but it’s not about money, it’s about health, it’s about protecting players. My feeling is because of the amount of games they play, I don’t think they (FIFA) pay attention.”
