It is well beyond any doubt that, GT batter Sai Sudharsan is in line to make his Test debut for India, in the upcoming England tour. And he seems to be prepping well for the challenge, albeit in IPL 2025, where he is the orange cap holder, with 759 runs, where, unlike others he isn’t dealing much in sixes, but in running-between-wickets and four-hitting.
In Friday’s Eliminator as well, he went on to struck a crafty 80 from in quick time against MI. Now, his team is out of the tournament, as Sai Sudharsan’s sole focus can be the England Tests, and his Surrey stints in 2023 and 2024 will only help. “It gave me a great experience,” he told reporters after GT’s 20-run loss.
“It improved my batting multiple folds in terms of technique and in terms of basics.” But the challenge will be to adapt to the conditions and even the red ball in England. “After a long three months of white-ball tournament, certain things would have changed in your batting,” he said.
“I think focusing more on basics and bringing back those to red-ball cricket will take some time.” Meanwhile, Sudharsan has only played three ODIs for India till now, where he has scored 127 runs at an average of 63. Not just that, he has played five matches for County Surrey, and scored 281 runs, including a ton against Nottinghamshire.
