SPELLING Bee champion Faizan Zaki fell to the ground and was showered in confetti after clinching this year’s title.
Zaki, 13, was runner-up in last year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee but managed to go one better.

When he realized he had spelled the word correctly, he raised his fists before collapsing at the podium.
Confetti then rained on him before he was presented with the coveted trophy.
Zaki clinched the title despite appearing to throw his chances away in an earlier round when he made a slight gaffe trying to spell the word commelina.
He had to stop himself after starting to spell the word wrong.
“K-A-M,” he uttered.
“Ok, let me do this. Oh shoot.”
While Zaki reveled in his achievement, some viewers were critical to slam the competition.
One critic posted on X that they hated the competition.
“I find it totally disgusting and would push for a national holiday to commemorate its abolition,” they said.
Another criticized the format and accused chiefs of embarrassing children on TV.
“I’m watching the Scripps Spelling Bee and boy, these kids are getting knocked out and crying lmaoooo like huh?!” they posted on X.
“We really embarrassing kids on national television.”
Zaki’s parents couldn’t hide their pride.
“He’s the GOAT,” the teen’s dad, Said Zaki Anwar, said.
“I actually believe that.
“He’s really good man, He’s been doing it for so long, and he knows the dictionary in and out.”
