THE Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be in a muddy quarterback situation with the team waiting on Aaron Rodgers’ decision.
The 41-year-old Rodgers has been expected to sign with the Steelers, who don’t have many options other than the four-time NFL MVP.

The Steelers seem to be holding out for Rodgers, and seemingly for a key reason, according to an NFL insider.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the quarterback market is “dry” for the Steelers and that the options are “scarce” for Mike Tomlin and company.
Fowler’s mention of the Steelers came after sharing that Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has appeared to send a message “that a reunion will be difficult” after not appearing at the team’s OTAs.
It seems that Fowler inferred that Cousins is possibly one of the few fits for the Steelers if they strike out on Rodgers.
The NFL reporter had reported last weekend on SportsCenter that Cousins is “at the very least” on the Steelers’ radar and could be a Plan B option.
“So Rodgers Plan A, Kirk Cousins could be a viable Plan B,” Fowler said on the program.
“After making some calls today, I do believe he’s been on their radar.
“If something were to fall through with Rodgers, certainly they could reconvene, call Atlanta, and see if they could shake something out.
“But right now, Rodgers is their guy.”
Other available quarterbacks include free agent veterans Ryan Tannehill, Carson Wentz, and Teddy Bridgewater, among others.
The Steelers can only receive Cousins’ services if they trade for the four-time Pro Bowler.
The 36-year-old signed a four-year, $180 million contract last offseason but has been vocal since being benched by the Falcons that he wants to join a new team.
Atlanta hasn’t granted Cousins’ trade request, and has seemingly been patient with his situation.
His contract has an out after this year, and the final two years of the deal aren’t guaranteed.

They would have to work out a deal for them to take on part of Cousins’ $45 million salary.
The 13-year NFL veteran is coming off a league-leading 16-interception campaign.
The Steelers have a need at the quarterback spot due to their underwhelming room of Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard.
They let their 2024 starting quarterbacks Justin Fields and Russell Wilson walk in free agency.
