Sunrisers Hyderabad’s aggressive attitude back fired in IPL 2025. Pat Cummins and co. struggled to deliver across departments and when they finally managed to fire, it was too late. From the failure of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the top of the order to poor performances from a veteran like Shami, SRH hardly had any positive to talk about in this season. The team only managed to win 6 out of 14 matches, and finished 6th on the points table.

Sunrisers Hyderabad review (4.5 / 10)
SRH simply failed to replicate their performances from IPL 2024. It started with the ‘Travishek’ opening duo as they failed to click collectively in this season. Despite starting and finishing the season with dominating wins, Cummins and co. failed to remain consistent in IPL 2025. To make matters worse, their startegy of investing in veteran Shami absolutely back fired.
However, there are some positives too. Firstly, they have unearthed their future middle-order batter and finisher in the form of Aniket Verma. Secondly, SRH have also found a go-to spinner in the form of Zeeshan Ansari. Unadkat has also proved his worth by emerging as a back-up option for the side on slow wickets.
Highs:
Aniket Verma emerges as a sustainable middle-order and finisher option Zeeshan Ansari is SRH’s go-to spinner in future Unadkat redeems self on slow wickets, is actually SRH’s lead pacer in such conditions Harsh Dubey is a guaranteed MVP all-rounder in the future Heinrich Klaasen proves his worth and justifies price tag with consistent performancesLows:
Absolute failure of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma to click as a duo SRH’s attitude of all or nothing backfired Ishan Kishan more of a burden than an asset for the top-order Shami fails to bowl at consistent lengths and speed Nitish Kumar Reddy a blunder in terms of retention, ineffective with both ball and batWhat next for SRH in IPL 2026?
SRH will have to look for more sustainable options in the top-order as Kishan has been highly inconsistent. In terms of bowling, they will be thinking about getting rid of Shami and find another option to replace him.
