Newcastle United are interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo, talkSPORT understands.
The Premier League duo are top targets for the Magpies this summer.
Mbeumo has been one of the Premier League’s standout players this seasonGettyAfter a great season under Eddie Howe, the Magpies will return to Champions League football following a fifth place finish in the Premier League and winning the Carabao Cup.
Mbuemo was one of the most prolific wingers in the top flight this season.
He featured in all of the Bees 38 Premier League games, with a impressive record of 20 goals and seven assists for the London club.
Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland scored more in the Premier League this campaign.
Mbuemo’s standout campaign has also drawn the attention of Manchester United, who have already held talks with the winger.
With just one year left on his contract, Brentford are likely to part ways with the 25 year-old to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
The Bees value Mbeumo around the £50million mark and boss Thomas Frank already hinted at the winger’s exit.
“I can definitely understand the interest in him,” said Frank.
“There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals.
“I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.”
The Magpies are also increasingly keen to land England international Guehi.
Howe’s men reached the Champions League on the final dayGettyNewcastle made numerous attempts to sign Guehi last summer, with Crystal Palace rejecting the offers.
After a final offer of around £65m was turned down last August, Newcastle walked away from the negotiations.
The club’s need for a central defender persists, as Lloyd Kelly left for Juventus in January on a loan deal which will become permanent over the summer.
Like Mbuemo, Guehi is entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Guehi moved to Selhurst Park from Chelsea in July 2021 for an estimated £18m.
Despite repeated attempts by Crystal Palace to re-sign the defender, conversations have proved unsuccessful so far.
If Guehi is unwilling to sign a new deal, Palace will therefore be under pressure to sell him this summer before they lose him on a free transfer.
In the wake of Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win earlier this month, Guehi was asked about his future at the club and said: “The most important thing is always doing the best I can for this football club.
“I come in every day, and I try to be the same. I try to work hard.
“This football club has given me a lot and I’m still under contract at this football club, so my focus is always at this football club.
“The most important thing is just doing the best I can and seeing what the future holds.”
Guehi has 23 international caps for EnglandGettyThis week, Newcastle announced the departure of sporting director, Paul Mitchell who is set to leave the club at the end of next month.
The 43-year-old’s exit will leave manager Howe in charge of recruitment until a successor is found.
