The ticket holder managed to convert their $2 ticket into a slip that is worth thousands of dollars.

They matched four numbers and the Powerball, shattering odds of one in 913,000 in the process.

Normally matching four numbers and the Powerball would see players rewarded with a $50,000 prize.

But, this particular player will walk away with just shy of $80,000.

Individual prize pots in the state may vary based on the number of tickets sold and winners.

Officials revealed the slip was sold at a Circle K outlet in Chino Hills, located around 35 miles from Los Angeles.

And, the player just missed out on $177 million by one number.

No player managed to win the top prize on Monday night, meaning the sum has rolled over.

The prize pot now stands at an estimated $189 million, with a cash value of $83.1 million.

On Monday night, one player in Oregon matched five numbers to take home a prize worth $2 million.

The player had invested in the Power Play option, a multiplier available to gamblers for one extra dollar.

More than 290,000 players landed prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000 on Monday, according to lotto bosses.

So far, there have been three Powerball jackpot winners this year.

Linda Grizzle and her son scooped a $167.3 million jackpot prize ahead of Mother’s Day.
