‘Getting fed up’ – Luke Littler tipped to RETIRE from darts and take shock career change ...Middle East

Nathan Aspinall expects Luke Littler to retire from darts ‘in about five years’.

At age 18, Littler has shattered all sorts of records since he burst onto the scene at the 2024 World Darts Championship.

Although he fell short in the final that year, he went one better in 2025 as he became the youngest to win the tournament aged 17.

Records have tumbled either side of his historic triumph, including one as recently as last Thursday when he broke his own benchmark to set the new Premier League points record.

But the big record looming large over Littler is Phil Taylor’s tally of 16 world championships.

Michael van Gerwen sits second in the list for most world championships won with just three.

Given Littler’s age and prowess on the oche, many have tipped him to break Taylor’s record.

But speaking on talkSPORT Drive from the James Maddison Golf Day, Aspinall does not believe Littler will do it because he can’t see the teen superstar sticking around for that long.

“I think he’ll be off in about five years,” Aspinall said.

“He’s 18. He does a lot on YouTube, he’s good mates with Angryginge.

“I can see him going down that path, in my opinion.

“He’s already getting fed up with playing and travelling all the time, and he’s only been doing it 12 months.

The teenager has 15 more world championships to go before he equals Taylor’s recordGetty

“I don’t think he’ll be around for 16 years, let alone winning 16 world titles.

“If he does, fair play to him. But I can’t see it.”

Littler has featured in several videos of Angryginge’s, real name Morgan Burtwistle, on YouTube.

The 18-year-old also nearly lost to the social media star in a game of darts in February.

Should Littler look to move into a career as a social media star, he won’t be short of followers.

On Instagram, the teenager boasts 1.9million followers.

To put that into context, it is nearly double the combined number of Van Gerwen, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price’s Instagram followers.

Aside from boasting a seven-figure following on Instagram, Littler can also lay claim to a seven-figure bank account.

He can boost the bank balance even further on Thursday in the Premier League play-offs as he looks to win back-to-back titles.

Littler takes on Price in the semi-final, which will be the best of 19 legs.

The winner will face either Humphries or Aspinall in the final.
