The US Sun has reported that Joann is set to shut down its remaining roughly 440 stores that are still standing by May 30.
Following its second bankruptcy filing in a year, Joann has urged shoppers to make the most of the final hours of its 80 year legacy.
The caption of the post says: “This is it sadly….. JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores are closing remaining locations by May 30th for good which is very unfortunate for many people who are losing their jobs.”
It quotes a Facebook post from Joann, which is captioned: “Everything is at least 70%-90% off before we close forever!
“Fabric, yarn, sewing supplies, crafts, Cricut machines, thread & much more! LAST CHANCE!”
And you can find so many more amazing savings, including in jewellery, paper crafting supplies and fine art supplies, per the website.
Even things like fixtures, furniture and equipment is for sale, but you need to speak with store managers for more details.
Joann is trying to get rid of cabinets, sewing machines and cutting tables, among other things.
However, Joann has also said before that it is not operating online anymore, so you have to go to your Joann store to get these savings.
The US Sun also reported that shoppers are being told to be on the lookout for fake Joann websites.
The stark warning reminded shoppers of the official website that Joann uses, and to ignore any that aren’t that specific web address.
HAUNTING FINAL FOOTAGE
The US Sun has revealed what the final days inside Joann look like, as footage emerges showing the haunting last breaths.
It shows a mostly abandoned location, with empty shelves and yellow warning tape strung up.
It was revealed by someone on Facebook: “Visited my closing Jo- Ann Fabrics store here in Rochester, NY, where it was a ghost town.
“No music, no hvac, little to no staff, and aisles and aisles of nothing!
“Very little signage or fixtures with the logo on it, all carts and baskets were sold ( this store didn’t even have them, strangely enough!)
BRANDS HARD HIT BY BANKRUPTCIES
Many chains have struggled to adapt to a post-Covid retail landscape, with several companies filing for bankruptcy
JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts announced it would close all 800 stores after filing for bankruptcy twice in a year.
Hooters announced plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in February.
Liberated Brands announced that it would be closing all 122 retail locations for its boardsport fashion brands Quiksilver, Billabong, and Volcom.
Forever 21 shut down its headquarters after filing for bankruptcy and laying off 358 employees.
Macy’s announced major restructuring plans amid mass store closures.
“Enjoy these shots, as this store will be another one in the retail books.”
Shopping carts have been moved to the sides, and only the colorful balls of yarn are there to light up an otherwise dreary setting.
Boxes are also laid around as the remaining team packs up the store for the final time.
Shoppers in the comments have expressed their remorse for the scenes.
One person wrote: “Looks like those floors have been neglected for many years prior to the closing announcement!”
And someone replied to this: “I was thinking the same thing! They gave up on strip and wax a long time ago.”
