And, those trying to seek out alternatives shouldn’t rush as services such as FedEx will not be available for the vast majority of customers.

USPS branches over the nation will be silent to mark Memorial Day.

Memorial Day, which falls on May 26, gives Americans the opportunity to remember those who died while serving in the military.

This means shoppers will not be able to buy stamps at USPS branches and no mail will be delivered today.

USPS branches have been closed to mark New Year’s Day – January 1 – and President’s Day – February 17.

Branches across the nation also fell silent on January 9, which coincided with former president Jimmy Carter’s funeral.

FedEx delivery services will not be available on Memorial Day, but Custom Critical services still take place.

Products that are usually shipped as part of the Custom Critical service tend to include pharmaceutical goods, and high-security items.

Companies such as UPS also pause deliveries for Memorial Day, but its Express Critical Service is still available.

This runs on a 24/7 scale, regardless of if there is a public holiday.

It’s not just post offices that are closed to mark Memorial Day.

The U.S. Sun revealed that banking giants will close branches for the holiday.

Some of the major banks that will not be open include Bank of America and Citibank.

The Federal Reserve will be closed today in line with the holiday.

Stores closed on Memorial Day

Since Memorial Day is a federal holiday, many Americans have the day off work.

While most grocery stores and retailers remain open, there are some exceptions

Costco is closing all stores for the whole day.

So is Natural Grocers, which has 168 stores across 20 states.

Postal services are also affected by the holiday.

All UPS locations will be closed.

FedEx will close many locations, while others will operate with reduced hours.

T.J. Maxx is also operating with different holiday hours that will vary by location.

Aldi will follow suit with “limited hours.”

Sam’s Club has announced that stores will shutter two hours earlier than normal at 6 pm for the upcoming holiday.

Target and Kroger will also have adjusted hours but will remain open.

But, shoppers needn’t despair, as major retailers across the US will continue trading as normal.

Walmart stores will be open, as will Target and Sam’s Club locations.

Sam’s Club shoppers have been warned of a temporary hours shake-up, however.

For Plus members, warehouses will be open between 8am and 6pm.

Club members must wait until 10am before they can step foot into stores across the country.

But, Costco warehouses will be closed to give workers the chance to mark the holiday at home with their families.

Natural Grocers locations will also be closed for Memorial Day.

Stores are also closed for Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
