Sadly, the fan-favorite European tourist hotspot has recently seen a revised travel warning from the U.S. State Department, encouraging travelers to 'exercise increased caution' upon reaching Italy.
Due to the ongoing threat of terrorist-related violence, however, the State Department has seen fit to bump Italy's travel advisory up to Level 2.
Currently, the State Department has a total of four separate levels for international travel advisories, ranging from Level 1, to Level 2 ('exercise increased caution'), to Level 3 ('reconsider travel) to Level 4 ('do not travel').
Above all else, the State Department advises American tourists to avoid certain high-risk areas that could be targeted by terrorist dissidents, including 'transportation centers, shopping malls and markets, local government buildings, hotels, clubs and restaurants.'
Along with Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom all currently have Level 2 travel advisories in place by the U.S. State Department.
