As one of the leaders in the industry, Costco is making three major changes that stand top both benefit and disappoint customers.
PAYMENT PLANS
The US Sun reports that Costco is implementing a new payment plan program that will give shoppers more flexibility.
The warehouse retailer has partnered with Affirm, and will now allow you to pay for big purchases anywhere from three to 36 months later.
Members will be able to choose from monthly payment plans at Costco for purchases ranging from $500 to $17,500.
The Buy Now Pay Later scheme will give you the option of plans from 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, or 36 months.
It is important to note that this will depend on the purchase amount of your own credit score.
Pat Suh, Affirm’s SVP of Revenue, said: “As summer approaches, we’re seeing more consumers turn to Affirm to prepare for the season ahead—whether it’s outdoor entertaining essentials, like a new barbecue or patio furniture, a storage shed, or a new set of appliances.
“Costco members in particular know the value of planning ahead and buying in bulk.
“We’re excited to offer them an alternative to traditional credit, helping them confidently manage their spending on larger purchases without hidden fees.”
Affirm is also partnered with big names such as Walmart, Peloton, Amazon, and Best Buy.
Also important to note is that the program will charge you interest on your purchase, anywhere from 10% to 36% APR.
But there is an option for automatic payment deductions.
TRAVEL PERK ABOLISHED
The US Sun also reported on the removal of a popular travel perk set up with Disneyland Resorts.
Costco is still offering discounts on tickets to the location in Anaheim, California, but is no longer accepting reservations through the website.
It has been confirmed that Costco has ended its partnership with Disney.
This news will come as a shock to those who have used the travel perk before, and relied on it for cheap holiday deals.
Least crowded months at Disney World
If you're looking to avoid crowds at Disney World, it's important to plan your trip on slower months.
When to go:
Blogs dedicated to Disney recommend going to the parks in February, May, August, and September. As far as which days to go, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays can be a bit less crowded, according to Magic Guides. When to avoid:
Public holidays can be the busiest times at the parks The pros recommend avoiding the periods around Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, and Spring break Memorial Day and Easter weekends are also crowded Summer, Thanksgiving week, and Christmas until New Year’s Day should also be avoided if possibleIt also put a greater emphasis on family, as the packages often targeted parents with young children.
It will also impact millions of shippers as a question mark is raised as to how this will effect the store shelves.
The likely outcome is that Disney products will cease to exist in Costco stores.
FOOD COURT CHANGES
The third and final change can be found at the food court, as Costco brings in a few key changes.
Fox Business reports that the Strawberry banana smoothie has officially landed at the food court.
It has actually been available since March, and is showing no sings of leaving.
On top of this, Costco is bringing back the turkey provolone sandwich in the third quarter of the year.
It’s been several years since the dish has been off the menu.
And finally, Costco is bringing back Coca-Cola to its food court for the first time since 2013.
From 2013 until now, Pepsi has been the first choice for shoppers.
This will impact the retailer’s most popular combo meal, the $1.50 hot dog and soda.
