Dan Henderson’s next big fight is building a one-of-a-kind gym and hangout in the heart of Temecula.

The retired MMA legend and two-time Olympic wrestler is launching Hendo’s Barrel House, a 32,000-square-foot facility that brings together fitness, food, and community under one roof. At its core is Hendo’s Gym, offering cross-training, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, and functional fitness for all levels.

The Barrel House also includes a full brewery, distillery, and steakhouse serving burgers, wings, tacos, and steaks. A Juice + Coffee Bar offers fresh juices, smoothies, and coffee, and The Butcher Shop features a selection of hand-cut meats.

The grand opening kicks off May 31 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., attended by Temecula Mayor Brenden Kalfus. Country singer Tyler Farr performs that evening at 7 p.m., followed by Michael Ray on June 1 at 1 p.m. Both shows are free, but space is limited.

“After dedicating so much of my life to competition, it feels incredible to step into this next chapter where I can build something that brings people together,” Henderson said. “Hendo’s is more than just a business – it’s a reflection of my journey, my values, and my commitment to community, health, and hard work. I’m excited to create a space where people can train, recover, eat great food, and connect – just like I’ve always loved to do.”

Henderson, born Aug. 24, 1970, is one of the most accomplished fighters in MMA history. The Downey native represented the U.S. in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics before transitioning to MMA in 1997. He won the Brazil Open Lightweight Tournament and the UFC 17 Middleweight Tournament early in his career.

He competed in multiple weight divisions, often taking on larger opponents. His run in Pride Fighting Championships included winning the 2005 Welterweight Grand Prix and becoming the first fighter to hold titles in two divisions after defeating Wanderlei Silva in 2007.

Later, Henderson returned to the UFC to face top-tier names like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Anderson Silva, and eventually captured the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title.

His 2011 fight against Maurício “Shogun” Rua at UFC 139 is still hailed as one of the greatest bouts in the sport’s history and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s Fight Wing in 2018. Henderson retired in 2016 after fighting Michael Bisping at UFC 204, closing out his career as the oldest active UFC fighter at the time.

Hendo’s Barrel House also plans to host regular fight night events, screening major MMA matchups in a social setting with food and drinks. Upcoming dates are scheduled for Aug. 9 and Nov. 8.
