RYAN CLARK apologized to Robert Griffin III for bringing his former NFL team-mate’s wife into their row.

Clark hit out at Griffin for his comments about WNBA star Angel Reese.

Griffin accused Reese of “hating” rival Caitlin Clark after their angry confrontation last week.

But Clark sparked a massive row when he dismissed his ex-Washington Redskins pal on Monday by suggesting his comments were less valid – because Griffin’s wife, Estonian heptathlete Grete Sadeiko, is white.

Clark said: “The one thing we know about RGIII is he’s not having conversations at his home about what black women have to endure in this country.

“About what young black women and athletes like Angel Reese have had to deal with being on the opposite side of Caitlin Clark’s rise and ascension into stardom.

“If you’re RGIII, when is the last time within your household you’ve had a conversation about what [Angel Reese is] dealing with?

“You haven’t been able to do that because in both of your marriages you’ve been married to white women.”

Griffin responded to Clark for “personally attacking me and my family” and insisted: “There’s a line you don’t cross in life and Ryan Clark sprinted past it.”

Despite calls for him to be sacked by ESPN, Clark doubled down on his controversial views and then piled in on Griffin again – labelling him as “one of the worst team-mates I ever had both on the field and in TV”.

But on Friday, he eventually reflected and backtracked for dragging Grete into the feud.

And he said sorry publicly on The Pivot podcast and also on X.

Clark tweeted: “If I had to do address @RGIII again I wouldn’t include his wife.

“She didn’t need to be made an example of in order to make my point.

“I could have easily pointed to the positive impact a connection with black women had on the way you see, understand and treat them.

“The optics of his video and personal history with RGIII played a part in how I addressed him.

“I didn’t insult or attack her, but no matter the intent and handling the impact was different.

“Let her and her family be.

“If you disagree with his takes, or even side with me on this one there’s no need to involve them.

“I involved her myself and that’s on me.”

On the podcast, he rounded off his statement by directly speaking to Grete, adding: “I was out of line, I was out of bounds, I apologize.

“To all of the people who don’t like RGIII’s take or the way that he moves, or even if you just take my side in this conversation, leave his family alone.”
