Georgia is coming off of another SEC title in 2024, but the Bulldogs still seemingly have some doubters within their own conference.
Athlon Sports recently spoke with several SEC coaches and asked them for their honest opinions about their peers in the league. The coaches spoke under the condition of anonymity but were often very revealing in what they had to say about their competition.
That was certainly the case with Georgia, as one anonymous coach is predicting a “decline” for the Bulldogs in 2025, specifically with regards to their production at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Here’s the quote that was shared with Athlon:
I don’t think this is the same level of talent we’ve seen in the last three or four years. I think you might see a decline, at least at first, on both lines of scrimmage.
Despite the SEC title, Georgia’s offensive line did not have a great season in 2024. The Bulldogs allowed 67 tackles for loss in 14 games, which ranked 8th in the SEC. It’s the first time UGA has ranked outside the top-3 in that statistic in a given season since 2018.

Georgia’s defensive line taking a step back would be a surprise, however. The Bulldogs have been consistently elite on that end throughout the Kirby Smart era.
Georgia will open the 2025 season against Marshall on Aug. 30.
