WALMART has been urged to change its store operating hours.
Several consumers recently argued that the adjustment would not only be convenient, but vital for some.

On standard business days, they open at either six or seven in the morning local time and close at 11 pm.
This is always subject to change on weekends, holidays, etc, and certain departments like the pharmacy or auto care have slightly differing times.
Just a few years ago, things were different.
Many of Walmart’s stores were open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The situation changed during the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, closing at 11 pm to allow for more cleaning and sanitation duties.
Since that time, it’s stayed the same, which retail experts have attributed to it being more optimal for Walmart’s labor costs and that it reduces shoplifting in areas with high theft rates.
NEVER AGAIN?
Walmart also said last year that it would not be returning to the 24-hour operation.
“There are no current plans to return our stores to 24 hours of operations,” Joe Pennington, Walmart’s global press office director, told First Coast News in a statement.
Customers have since created several petitions to reinstate the all-day service.
One was posted on Change.org and emphasized that the 24-hour models allowed for “quiet” shopping and the avoidance of crowds.
“Ever gone shopping and felt like it’s just too crowded? I know the feeling — ‘the daytime is too peopley,’ as I like to say,” the petition founder and longtime Walmart shopper wrote.
“I’ve always preferred shopping at night, when the aisles are quiet and the atmosphere is relaxed.”
“For many of us who share this sentiment, the transition of Walmart to reduced hours has been a significant inconvenience,” they added.

The customer continued to emphasize the need for shopping availability for those who “work unconventional hours,” whether it’s “busy parents and college students with packed schedules” or third-shift employees.
“The flexibility of a 24-hour Walmart has been a lifeline,” they noted.
“Moreover, during emergencies, knowing that a 24-hour Walmart was open for supplies was a comfort.”
“Particularly in rural or areas with fewer options, having access to a 24-hour store was crucial,” the shopper continued.
“I urge Walmart to listen to the voices of those who miss the convenience, flexibility, and peace of their 24-hour stores.”
MORE OPTIONS
While it seems the retail giant remains firm on maintaining its current model, several other retailers are open 24 hours.
CVS and Walgreens both have select locations that do it.
Certain convenience stores like 7-Eleven and Love’s are also on that list, along with local bodegas.
Walmart also made waves recently for at least seven major changes coming to over 600 stores in May.
Shoppers were also left stunned recently by an extra hurdle at Walmart’s checkout area that left “workers at a loss.”
