Severance’s boys volleyball team concluded its best season in its four-year history with a 22-8 record and a deep run in the Class 4A state tournament earlier this month.

The accolades didn’t end there for the upstart Silver Knights.

On Monday, CHSAANow.com and MaxPreps released boys volleyball all-state honors, and a trio of Severance players received recognition.

Senior setter Gabe Schneekloth was named to the 4A first team after recording team highs of 897 assists and 89 aces, to go along with 102 kills, 166 digs and 54 blocks. He was second in 4A in assists.

Schneekloth’s senior teammate, middle hitter Olek Klimik, was named an honorable mention, as was Silver Knights senior outside hitter/setter Matt Zenger.

Fairways and greens

Just two days after girls state golf tournaments wrapped up, CHSAA.com and MaxPreps released all-state teams for that sport.

The teams are based on state tournament results. The top 10 individuals at state, including ties, were named to the first teams. The remainder of those in the top 20 were placed on the second team.

Windsor senior Macy Kleve earned a spot on the 4A first team after placing third at the Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield.

Northridge junior Grace Gerbers was named to the 3A second team, as was Severance senior Katelyn Johnson and Northridge senior Emmarie Miles.

Resurrection Christian juniors Karina Garcia and Avery Stockslager earned spots on the 2A second team.

Ascending up the podium

CHSAANow.com released girls and boys track and field selections Thursday, and those teams were also selected based on state championship results.

Individuals placing top 3 earned first-team spots, as did members of first-place relay teams. Individuals that placed fourth-sixth, and members of second-place relay teams, earned second-team honors.

Any individual that placed seventh-ninth, and members of third-place relay teams, were honorable mentions.

Athletes are recognized for only their highest finish.

Among local girls all-state selections, Roosevelt junior Braelyn Bailey (high jump) earned a spot on the 4A first team, as did Windsor junior Maya Brasch (100, 200, 1,600 relay), Windsor junior Kiana Cumings (200, 400, 1,600 relay), Windsor senior Reyleigh Hess (high jump, 1,600 relay), Roosevelt senior Taegan Olson (pole vault) and Windsor senior Madelyn Von Tersch (1,600 relay).

Greeley West junior Valeria Calzada (shot put) earned a 4A second team spot. Ditto for Windsor junior Olivia Cruz (800 relay).

Windsor junior Kylie Becker (shot put, discus), Windsor freshman Rylee Martin (high jump) and Roosevelt junior Makaylee Meyer (pole vault) earned 4A girls honorable mentions.

A slew of local athletes earned 3A girls first-team honors: Resurrection Christian senior Addison Barker (pole vault, long jump), University junior Jordan Halley (long jump, triple jump), Resurrection Christian senior Joy Koole (3,200), University sophomore Ruby Naber (triple jump), Eaton sophomore Isabella Ramsey (shot put), Eaton sophomore Delaney Reuter (800, 1,600), University senior Cadence Schedlbauer (pole vault), Eaton senior Kaylee Staudinger (triple jump), Resurrection Christian sophomore Tatum VanPelt (100, 200) and Eaton sophomore Jayda Warehime (shot put).

University senior Ava Dominguez (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles) earned a 3A girls second-team spot, as did Eaton sophomore Zoey Hall (400 relay), Weld Central senior Megan Hopp (discus), Valley senior Nevaeh Jimenez (discus), Eaton sophomore Lyla Kammerer (400 relay), Eaton sophomore Skyelyn Lefever (400 relay), Weld Central sophomore Sophie McNitt (high jump) and Eaton senior Mckenzie Powell (400 relay).

Eaton sophomore Siri Rasmussen (300 hurdles) was a 3A girls honorable mention.

Dayspring Christian freshman Gracie Gilmore (triple jump) was a 2A girls honorable mention.

Prairie sophomore Hannah Kugler (high jump) earned a 1A girls first-team spot. Prairie sophomore Macie Jaeger (long jump) was named to the second team, as was Briggsdale senior Kayl Klem (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles).

Prairie freshman Amelia Stroud (high jump) was named a 1A girls honorable mention.

As for local boys all-state selections, Roosevelt sophomore Owen Hays (300 hurdles) earned a spot on the 4A first team as did two of his Rough Riders teammates: junior Tayber Konrad (shot put) and senior Jayden Nohr (100, long jump). Roosevelt freshman Houston Howell (300 hurdles) and Severance senior Grayson Smith (pole vault) were named to the 4A second team.

Severance sophomore Jonah Beck (200), Windsor junior Brenton Clark (long jump) and Windsor junior Thales Price (triple jump) were 4A boys honorable mentions.

Resurrection Christian had five athletes named to the 3A boys first team: senior Jackson Fagerlin (800, 1,600, 3,200 relay), freshman Lincoln Fagerlin (800, 1,600, 3,200 relay), sophomore Trevor Lim (800, 3,200 relay), senior Jonah Morris (3,200 relay) and junior Mwanje Peterson (long jump). Eaton senior Ryan Martinez (pole vault) and University senior Nicholas Rothe (pole vault) were also named to the first team.

University sophomore Ethan Baker (100, 200) was named to the 3A boys second team, as was Weld Central junior Zach Francis Gould (discus), Frontier Academy senior Amir McDonald (200), University sophomore Crew McDowell (pole vault), Resurrection Christian senior Evan VanPelt (300 hurdles) and University senior Robert Wilke (pole vault).

A slew of local athletes were 3A boys honorable mentions: Resurrection Christian senior Garrett Beall (triple jump), University senior Connor Bonnell (pole vault), University senior Brevon Doss (400 relay, 800 relay), Frontier Academy senior Kalid Fanning (3,200), University sophomore Sullivan Gesso (400 relay, 800 relay), University senior Bertram Harvey (triple jump, 800 relay, 400 relay), Eaton senior Brody Niswender (long jump), Weld Central junior Cody Powers (300 hurdles) and Valley junior Steven Stambaugh (discus).

Dayspring Christian freshman Hawkins Flanagan (400 relay) was a 2A second-team selection, as were his Eagles teammates junior Elijah Martin (300 hurdles, 400 relay), sophomore Jadon Olaniyi (400 relay) and junior Easton Silva (400 relay).

Briggsdale senior Kaeden Gebauer (200) was a 1A boys first-team selection. Prairie senior Lane Schock (100) and his junior Mustangs teammate Tyler Troudt (100) were 1A boys honorable mentions.

Knighted

Severance held its annual collegiate signings celebration earlier this month and a slew of Silver Knights athletes made their commitments to compete at the next level official.

Isis Pribble will play for the University of Rochester (New York) women’s volleyball program while studying international relations and Arabic.

Aubrey Dare will be a member of the Missouri Western State University softball program while studying nursing.

Peightan Swanson is bound for McCook (Nebraska) Community College where she will play women’s volleyball and work on general studies.

Brookelyn Handke committed to Feather River College in California and will play beach and indoor volleyball while working to obtain licensure in vocational nursing.

Faith Vondy is set for Texas Wesleyan University and will compete in women’s wrestling while working on a degree in political science with a pre-law track.

Reagan Mendoza signed with the MidAmerica Nazarene University women’s golf program in Kansas and will work toward a business degree.

Emily Darby is bound for Park University-Gilbert in Arizona and she will play softball while studying sports medicine.

Kolton Beidleman is set for Feather River College where he will play baseball and work on an exercise science degree.

Ian Pennock is off to South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to play football and study business management in engineering and technology.

Molly Sporleder will compete in women’s basketball and track and field at Hastings (Nebraska) College. She will also study nursing.

Reese Yahn will be a member of the North Platte Community College women’s basketball team in Nebraska while studying interior design.

Jeremy Thoma has committed to the Missouri Baptist University’s men’s volleyball program where he will study pre-engineering and exercise sports science.

Dom Rice will continue his baseball career at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.
