THE body blows keep on coming for Manchester United fans – after a horse named Amorim suffered defeat hours after the side’s Europa League final loss.
The £500,000 two-year-old colt ran at Yarmouth under Sun Racing columnist Billy Loughnane.
Turns out the Amorim name is unlucky on the racecourse as well as on the pitchGettyWe may have just seen something very special! Postmodern puts in a seriously impressive performance first time up at @GTYarmouthRaces! pic.twitter.com/9Iz0P4cd8x
— At The Races (@AtTheRaces) May 22, 2025Owned by huge racing figure Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, Amorim was a well-backed 10-3 before the off in the 6f contest.
But he was absolutely no match for runaway winner Postmodern.
One punter joked: “Amorim can’t catch a break, now he’s been beaten at Yarmouth too.”
The defeat came after Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim’s side loss 1-0 to Spurs – who ended their 17-year trophy drought with victory in Bilbao on Wednesday night.
Old Trafford chiefs have subsequently ‘put every player up for sale‘, according to reports, with the club said to be facing financial ruin.
