Villa will believe they’re playing Man United at the perfect time after Ruben Amorim‘s side sunk to a new low.

The Red Devils lost to Tottenham in the Europa League final to confirm one of their worst campaigns ever.

It’ll leave Unai Emery licking his lips and heading to Old Trafford with only one goal in mind…

What do Aston Villa need to qualify for Champions League?

Aston Villa know that a win may still not be enough to claim a spot in the Champions League next season.

If they beat Man United but Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle all win their games, Villa will finish sixth and in the Europa League places.

However, if Villa win and one of the above teams lose, Emery’s men will take their spot in the top five and Champions League.

A draw for Villa could be enough to qualify too.

That’s only if one of Chelsea and Newcastle lose, though.

Losing to United would mean Villa can’t qualify for the Champions League at all and could even drop to seventh.

If Nottingham Forest beat Chelsea and the Villans lose, they’d drop down into a Europa Conference League spot.

Villa can finish from third to seventh on the final day

Man United vs Aston Villa: Team news

United only have Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt as doubts heading into their season finale.

However, Amorim could change things around after the Europa League final, with Amad Diallo playing 90 minutes.

He could be rested to avoid another injury, while Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Casemiro could drop to the bench.

Diogo Dalot is back fit and could get a start in place of either Patrick Dorgu or Noussair Mazraoui.

As for Villa, Youri Tielemans is out and Marcus Rashford won’t feature as he’s injured and can’t feature against his parent club.

Jacob Ramsey is back from a one-game suspension.

Man United vs Aston Villa: What has been said?

Amorim has admitted that he could depart the club, but that he won’t voluntarily leave his role.

He said: “If the board and the fans feel I am not the right guy, I will go tomorrow with no compensation. But I will not quit.”

The United manager then added: “I’m confident that I’m still the guy. More than the beginning.

“I know that it is going to be tough. I know that we lost against an English team.

“I know that the patience of the fans is going to be really short next season.

“But I guarantee you I will not quit, I will not go away, so at this time I am really confident.”
