Former Severance High School wrestler Faith Vondy recently signed with Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth to continue her wrestling and academic career.
Vondy, who graduated this weekend, was a four-time Colorado High School state wrestling qualifier and was state runner-up this year. She was a two-time regional champion and a two-time All-American. In 2024, she won the Midwest Classic National Championship in Nebraska.
“I want to thank everyone that has supported me from the very beginning, starting with my parents for driving me to and from every practice and tournament since I was 4 years old. For always being in my corner and pushing me to be the best student athlete I can be,” Vondy said in a news release.
Vondy plans to major in political science with a pre-law track.
Vondy also played softball and football at Severance, in addition to playing in the band and involvement with other clubs and activities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Faith to the Ram Family,” Texas Wesleyan coach Jose Lazo said. “She comes from a wrestling family, so we know she brings with her talent, work ethic and passion for the sport of wrestling. She is a perfect fit for our program, and we can’t wait to see her accomplish great things. We are putting together a good team.”
Her younger sister, Quinly, won a state wrestling middle school championship in March. Dave, their dad, was a two-time high school wrestling state champion and a national champion in college.
