The Weld County coroner has identified the man who was killed late Saturday night in a crash on Colo. 14 west of Ault.
Garrett Hilario Deherrera, 23, of Milliken was the passenger in a westbound pickup when the driver — a 21-year-old LaSalle woman — veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a semitruck, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Deherrera was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman was airlifted to a hospital. Her exact condition is unknown, but troopers said they have not been notified of her death. Neither the driver nor Deherrera were wearing a seatbelt, CSP confirmed.
Neither the 40-year-old Fountain man who was driving the semi nor his 32-year-old female passenger were injured. Troopers say both were wearing their seatbelts.
Colo. 14 was closed for more than nine hours Sunday while crews cleaned up the crash.
