Jude Bellingham continues to spark concern with his ongoing problems with a shoulder injury this season.
The Real Madrid talisman now has to have the problem area heavily strapped, having so far resisted surgery to fix his long-standing issue.
Bellingham’s shoulder was heavily strapped during Real’s win over GetafeRexThe England international first suffered issues with that part of his body during his three-year spell at Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
Fans often saw him wearing shoulder support when playing for BVB between 2020-2023, and now two years on, strapping still remains.
What’s wrong with Bellingham’s shoulder?
Following his switch to Spain, the 21-year-old dislocated his shoulder in a 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023.
He was forced to miss Los Blancos’ next two matches, while also being absent for England’s final two Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The expectation was that Bellingham would go under the knife as a result of that injury setback, but ultimately, surgery never took place.
It remains a problem for the ex-Birmingham starlet, as shown during his side’s 1-0 win away at city rivals Getafe last month.
As Bellingham emerged as a second-half substitute, his left shoulder was seen getting heavily strapped up by a Real medic.
Despite losing both the Copa del Rey final and missing out on La Liga glory to El Clasico rivals Barcelona, Madrid’s trophy pursuits are not over.
Los Blancos are then competing in the FIFA Club World Cup in June, with Bellingham planned to have shoulder surgery afterwards.
According to The Athletic, he will likely be sidelined for around 12 weeks and is expected to miss the start of the 2025-26 La Liga season.
The England star hasn’t missed any matches this term due to his shoulder issueRex The strapping can clearly be seen under his shirtGetty“It’s the same shoulder as last year,” said manager Carlo Ancelotti in September after fears arose over Bellingham’s problem area.
“The problem he had the other day hasn’t affected him.
“He’ll wear protection, just to be safe, but he’s available, he’ll play.
Bellingham himself spoke of his issue in December, where he emulated Ancelotti’s sentiments and played down his injury.
He said: “It’s OK. I’m still in the sling, which is a little uncomfortable, but the overall feeling is pretty good.”
This is the second long-standing injury issue that has plagued Bellingham, having previously wore a knee brace for months.
