When it comes to shopping at Aldi, there’s an interesting “strategy” behind how their employees operate in the store.
Joshua Domston, a talent acquisition manager with Titan Security, shared with Reader’s Digest the real reason why Aldi employees sit behind the cashier registers.
He explained that keeping employees seated during their shifts has benefits for both the staff and the customers.
“In grocery retail – especially in European, Asian, and some American discount chains like Aldi, Lidl, or Daiso – cashiers are often seated at the register for strategic reasons,” Joshua said.
“For one, sitting reduces physical fatigue, especially during long shifts.”
He also noted that “a seated cashier can scan items faster with fewer body movements.”
Aldi has found that keeping their cashiers seated leads to better productivity and less strain on their bodies, making it a win-win for everyone.
It’s Aldi’s latest Bath & Body Works dupe that has shoppers rushing to their nearest store.
