Brighton – 6/4 Draw – 11/4 Liverpool – 13/8Brighton v Liverpool prediction
Liverpool, already crowned Premier League champions, will be looking to get back to winning ways after going winless their last two outings against Chelsea and Arsenal, and will be send their travelling support home happy with victory on their final away outing of the season.
Arne Slot’s side make the long trip to the south coast on Monday night 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table to take on a Brighton side without anything to play following Crystal Palace’s FA Cup final victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have only won four of their last nine matches despite being so dominant for pretty much the entirety of the campaign in all competitions prior, but have found that right time to take their foot off the gas having already secured their first league title in five years.
Brighton had been firmly in the hunt for the final European spot for next season in the Conference League, which would have gone to the eighth placed Premier League finishers had Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace in the final of the FA Cup over the weekend.
Palace’s victory though means they snatched a place in next season’s Europa League, meaning the Conference League position that might have been Brighton’s will now go to the seventh placed finish, which the Seagulls are currently 10 points behind with just two matches to play.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side will head into tonight, their final home game of the German’s first season in charge, in strong form having picked up seven points from their last three games, and will be eager to put in a strong performance in front of the champions elect in their final game in front of their home fans.
The Seagulls head into tonight’s bout ninth in the table, but can go three points clear of Brentford with victory tonight, which would have put them in pole position for another European journey next season, but now leaves them with only pride to play for.
Liverpool have won their last three matches against Brighton, but they have won on only one of their last four visits to the Amex.
Neither side have anything to play for this season, though with Liverpool having seemingly taken their foot off the gas ever so slightly and Brighton with their last home game of the season, looking for a positive send off for their home fans and still hoping for as high a league finish as possible, I can see them getting something out of the match – a 2-2 draw seeming a distinct possibility,
