Oklahoma will not have to worry about any drama in the regional round, blasting its way into the Super Regionals with another run-rule victory on Sunday.
Across the women’s NCAA Tournament, a number of national seeds are fighting for their lives in do-or-die matchups on Sunday. Oklahoma, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, is not having any of that drama after rolling into the regional championships with wins of 8-0 and 11-2 to begin the regional round.
Cal, the opponent for the 11-2 win by the Sooners, fought its way back into the regional championships but needed to win 2 games on Sunday. That’s a tall task under any circumstances against the Sooners, and it proved to be too much for the Bears.
Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead in the top of the 2nd inning with 4 runs. Home runs by Gabbie Garcia and Ailana Agbayani provided the firepower and were harbingers of more power to come.
The game was essentially put away for good in the 4th inning when the Sooners piled up 8 runs. Kasidi Pickering and Ella Parker punctuated the frame with 2 more home runs, including a massive moonshot by Parker.

Over the weekend, Oklahoma outscored its opponents 31-3 in reaching the Super Regionals, where the Sooners will face the winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional. Oklahoma is looking to maintain its streak of national titles after winning the last 4 and advancing to the Women’s College World Series in 8 straight tournaments.
