Brothers suspected in Concord stabbings charged with attempted murder ...Middle East

CONCORD — Two brothers sought by police following stabbings that injured two others were arrested last week and have been charged with two counts of attempted murder, according to court records and authorities.

The stabbings happened about 3 p.m.  May 6 in the area of Willow Pass Road and Market Street and resulted from a dispute over graffiti tagging between rival gang members, police said. The area is close to the entrance to westbound state Highway 242.

Both victims were hospitalized and survived.

The suspects are both Fairfield residents and 25 and 22 years old, respectively . They each were charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime, according to court records.

The charges for the older of the two carries special allegation enhancements for causing great bodily injury and for committing the crimes while out on bail or on his own recognizance, court records state.

The two remain in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.

Detectives with Concord police’s violence suppression unit identified the two brothers as the suspects and tracked them down Tuesday morning with the help of Fairfield police.
