Jane started out on the older Espada tribe, the season's oldest castaway at 56. She played alongside legendary NFL Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson, and even took part in voting him out of the tribe on Day 9. She also began a rivalry with tribe member Marty Piombo, and joined up with the younger tribe members with the sole intention of taking him and his allies out.

Despite her acrimonious departure, Jane was regarded as one of the most popular players of the season by the Survivor fandom. As a result, as the live reunion show, it was revealed that she had won the Sprint Fan Favorite audience prize, along with $100,000.
