ONE of Mike Tomlin’s former players thinks it’s time for the legendary coach to move on.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been stagnant for a decade, and Ryan Clark thinks Tomlin needs a fresh start.

However, he also recognizes that Tomlin’s Steelers haven’t had the same luster in over a decade, and they continue to flop in the playoffs.
“The most telling piece about those games to me is the deficits they faced in all of those playoff games,” Clark said.
“So what is that? Is that not being prepared? Is that not being talented enough?
“They have to find the answer.”
Clark knows that Tomlin is a legendary coach and that it would be hard for the Steelers to fire him, but he thinks it might be the right idea for Tomlin to leave on his own.
“I believe that Mike Tomlin is unfireable,” Clark continued.
“I believe that if Mike Tomlin walks away from being the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, then that should be his decision.
“And I’ve said time and time again I do believe that should be the decision he makes.
“I believe Mike Tomlin should coach another organization, I believe Mike Tomlin should be a fresh voice.”
Clark believes that Tomlin doesn’t have the same authority as he used to, and the Steelers won’t reach the same heights as they used to with him as coach.
“As great as a coach he is, and he’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer, I believe his voice has run stale there [in Pittsburgh],” he said.
“I believe he’s allowed that team to reach the highest of heights they’re going to reach unless they can get a top tier quarterback.”
NFL fans had split opinions about Clark’s proposal, but many supported the idea of Tomlin changing teams.
“Might be onto something,” one fan said.
“Love Mike Tomlin and all he’s done for the team, but Ryan Clark told no lies,” another fan said.

“All valid points!” a third fan said.
“Many of us have been saying this for 3 seasons. Long overdue for Tomlin to move on,” a fourth fan said.
“I think the ESPN voices have run stale,” a fifth fan said.
If Tomlin were to leave the Steelers he would be giving up three years of salary.
He was recently signed to a three-year extension that runs through the 2027 NFL season.
The Steelers would likely have to fire him in order for their partnership to end.
